Minister Susil Premjayantha says that it has not been possible to make Appointments 54 principals for national schools due to the non-approval by the Public Service Commission.
He mentioned that the appointment of retired persons for the Independent Commission has made its work more efficient.
“For 6 months now, we have been trying to appoint them, but the Public Service Commission has not approved them. So even if these independent commissions are formed, we cannot solve this problem by leaving those retired people. Therefore, I will make a special statement in the Parliament soon. It has been 6 months now since I asked for permission. Every week they ask to give permission. They don’t give permission. So look at how unsuccessful the independent commissions are. The country’s work is not being done.”
Minister Susil Premjayantha also mentioned that steps will be taken to release the results of the advanced level examination before the commencement of the ordinary level examination.
“The Advanced level papers are still being evaluated. It will be completed by the end of February. After that, there are practical tests. The examination department hopes to finish all of them and release the results before the starting of GCE Ordinary level.”
