Ministry Agreed to extend the grace period for Professional Review and EB(Module)
May 8, 2024 – The Ceylon Teachers Association announced positive developments for Teachers facing promotion delays due to the professional review process. Following discussions between the Ministry of Education, Teachers & Principals Trade Unions, a grace period extension has been agreed upon.
This extension applies to the Professional Review and EB(Module) evaluations impacting teacher promotions. The Ministry of Education submitted a cabinet paper outlining a planned reorganization of the professional review system along with addressing promotion roadblocks. This paper has been forwarded to the Parliament and the Public Service Commission for review.
Today’s discussions between the Public Service Commission and the Ministry of Education hold particular significance. The Sri Lanka Teachers Association reports that the Ministry has prioritized addressing the concerns of teachers who have been unable to secure promotions due to the current system.
The news comes after a meeting yesterday, May 7th, where the Ministry of Education and the Federation of Principals Teachers’ Unions explored key issues to be presented in today’s discussions.
