In a significant development related to the GCE A/L 2023 Agricultural Science question paper leak, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has apprehended a 38-year-old male peon from the Moratuwa Maha Vidyalaya exam center. The suspect was taken into custody on January 15, marking a new twist in the unfolding examination scandal.
The arrest follows a meticulous investigation into the incident, revealing that the peon, employed at the Moratuwa Maha Vidyalaya exam center, played a crucial role in the unauthorized dissemination of the Agricultural Science question papers.
Notably, an earlier arrest on January 14 involved a government school teacher from Ampara, aged 52, who was taken into custody for allegedly leaking the GCE A/L Agricultural Science I & II question papers. Subsequent developments implicated an employee on duty at the examination center in Ampara, allegedly involved in distributing the leaked paper to the aforementioned teacher.
The Examinations Commissioner has assured the public that a new date for the reexamination of the Agricultural Science subject will be on February 1st, 2024. The decision to cancel the exam stems from credible information indicating that the question paper had been compromised and circulated on social media, underscoring the authorities’ commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination process.
