Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Education (MOE) is calling on all Zonal Directors of Education to collect data on teachers who need to complete efficiency bar examinations.

The interim provisions of the Sri Lanka Teaching Service Regulations, published in Gazette Nos. 1885/38 dated October 23, 2014, allowed promotions based on completing efficiency bar exams from October 23, 2019, to October 22, 2022. However, with those provisions no longer in effect, the MOE is working on a plan to ensure all eligible teachers complete these exams.
The Public Service Commission (PSC) has requested the MOE to develop a strategy to address this. The plan could involve facilitating exams for teachers in training centers with limited resources or proposing alternative solutions.
Accurate data is crucial for this process. Regional Directors are required to update information on teachers who have completed or are due to complete these exams using Form 01 (details not provided in the document).

For efficient data collection, provincial directors are advised to create separate spreadsheet files using MS Excel, with each region having its own worksheet within the file.
