Central Province Halts Temporary Teacher Recruitment Efforts
The Central Province Department of Education has halted temporary teacher recruitment efforts in Sinhala medium schools, despite prior announcements from some Zonal Education Directors.
Provincial Education Secretary, Mr. Menaka Herath, instructed Zonal Directors to cease all recruitment activities following a verbal notice.
This comes after two Zonal Directors had issued written notices to principals, requesting recommendations for retired teachers in good health and unemployed graduates to fill long-standing vacancies. The application deadline for these positions was set for March 28, 2024, with interviews scheduled for April 4th.
