Cabinet Approves Immediate Start of G.C.E. A/L Classes Post G.C.E. O/L Exams
The Cabinet of Ministers has greenlit a proposal to kickstart G.C.E. Advanced Level classes without delay following the culmination of the ongoing G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination.
With the Department of Examinations typically taking a minimum of three months to release results post the G.C.E. O/L examination, a concerning trend emerges wherein students tend to drop out of schools during this interim period, dampening their enthusiasm for further studies and sparking various social issues.
Acknowledging this pressing concern, the Department of Government Information (DGI) underscored the necessity of promptly initiating higher education activities in schools immediately post the completion of G.C.E. O/L examinations.
Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha championed the proposal before the Cabinet of Ministers, advocating for the swift commencement of G.C.E. Advanced Level classes directly following the conclusion of the ongoing G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination, which is currently underway.
This decision is poised to address the critical gap between academic sessions, ensuring a smoother transition for students and potentially curbing dropout rates, while also fostering a conducive learning environment conducive to academic success and societal well-being.
The Cabinet’s approval of this proposal signifies a proactive step towards mitigating educational challenges and bolstering the academic journey of students across the nation.
